Learning about DNA

 DNA workshop

Members attentive to Roger's explanations

A genealogical DNA test is one which looks at specific segment locations of a person's genome in order to find or verify ancestral genealogical relationships.

This is an interesting and complicated subject. On Monday 31st August at the Heritage Centre in Cooroy, Roger Ladbrook presented a comprehensive “all you need to know” DNA Workshop followed by an audience Q & A .

Many members have had their DNA tests done so Roger’s workshop was able to explain many of the aspects of their test results and how they can use those results in their family history research.

Local Lists

These lists compiled on Trove by NoosaHeritage refer to some famous names/families in the area and their local businesses.

Photos of WW1 soldiers

Currently, there are 2 photos in the Heritage Centre of unknown WW1 soldiers from the area. The Cooroy RSL Sub Branch asked if we could assist in finding who they are so they can be restored on the wall in the Community Hall. If you can help please contact Bev W. and the research team.

These related lists courtesy of NoosaHeritage are in Trove .
