More places to find Noosa Shire history

If you have exhausted our local history resources at the Heritage Centre there are plenty of other places to seek local area information. Here's a few to investigate.

Visit the Noosa Council History and Heritage page and scroll down to view a wealth of reports. Some of these are dated 2002. They include photos and accompanying stories behind a wide range of buildings and sites.

The Noosa Library Heritage page provides information about the physical and online collections the library holds. Resources include timelines, town histories, oral histories, historical images, books, maps, newspaper cuttings, magazines, films and sound recordings, pamphlets, oral histories, and organizational records.

The Majestic Theatre in Pomona has this history page which provides details about the building, the people involved and the events held there.

 Using Advanced Search

To see the latest additions to the library catalogue use advanced search without entering any search term. See below.

Any of the collections can be searched in the same manner. If you would like to know the titles of all the journals held simply select the Journals Magazines and Newsletters collection. Go to individual records within the results list to determine whether the journal is a print copy or a copy held on our members' only Heritage site. Visit the Heritage Centre to access the e-journals.

 Jam-Tastic Sale Success

Jams and chutneys on display

On Saturday 8th August the group held a successful sale of homemade jams and chutneys. Thanks to all those who made the goodies, and to the organisers and the customers. Extra special thanks to Joan for the unique labels along with the volunteers who set up early and attended the stall throughout the morning.

The August monthly meeting followed at 1 pm. If you missed the meeting, watch for the minutes in your email. Some topics covered:

• Trove lists re local history compiled by Library and heritage volunteers
• Gympie library videos - local history on YouTube. Gympie Library is keen to learn more about the people and events in the films and will happily receive any information.
• Group blog as an historical record of group activities and a platform for group members to contribute content
• Finances
• Topics for future meetings
