Australian Genealogy blogs in April A - Z challenge

Each April the A-Z challenge for bloggers attracts a wide range of participants. The idea is to publish a blog post for each letter of the alphabet each day in April excluding Sundays.

Australian participants from genealogy and family history circles often participate. Some write about their research and own family histories. Others choose more general themes. Here's some of those more general themes of interest to family historians.

Alex Daw from Brisbane is examining all the facets of family history and genealogy societies, what they are, what they do and where they may go in the future. Visit her Family Tree Frog blog to read her thought provoking posts.

You may enjoy her selection for D D is for Databases, Donations, Direction, Decline and Dragons?

Pauleen Cass of the Sunshine Coast is reminiscing about Family Food Fare and Favourites on her Family History across the seas blog. She says:

Join me as I dig through my memories, and recipes, to rediscover my family’s food “back in the day” and how those food habits have changed over the decades to today’s diverse and multi-cultural cuisines.

Pauleen's C post on Casseroles, Curries and Cakes  has a delicious rum chocolate cake recipe.

Jill Ball on her GeniAus blog is writing about two of her passions, books and family history. She is taking a trip down memory lane and revisiting some of those books that have enriched her genealogy experience.

Luckily Noosa Library has a copy of Esther, a book recommended by Jill. E is for ...Esther : the extraordinary true story of the First Fleet girl who became first lady of the colony, sounds like an excellent read.

Carmel Galvin at Carmel's Corner  is exploring the huge collection of resources in the Australian Joint Copying Project available through Trove and providing a guide on how to make best use of these resources to enrich  family stories. The B Browsing the Board of Trade post shows how one may find information about those maritime wanderers of the past.

More Australian A - Z bloggers

All of these bloggers welcome your comments. Most bloggers provide a method for subscription by email. Another effective way to have blog posts come to you without cluttering your email inbox, is to use a feed reader such as Feedly or InoReader. Both these services are free and have apps for mobile devices.
