Local history resources can be found in a multitude of locations. Here is a souvenir booklet published in 1927 with text about Cooroy by Alex Douglas. The booklet has been digitised by the State Library of Queensland and is available for viewing from that site and also on the Internet Archive. Links provided below. Of particular interest are the advertisement pages for the local businesses which mention many well known names.

In the township itself every business, trade, and profession is well represented. Two commodious hotels provide ample accommodation for visitors. A first-class post office provides a continuous telephone service. A private hospital, well equipped, provides for the necessities of surgical and medical cases. Motorists have their needs attended to by proficient service stations and bowsers. In memory of fallen soldiers, a magnificent Memorial Hall has been erected by district residents, and a stone monument in the Memorial Park also testifies to the keen interest shown. Most of the Lodges and Associations find representation-a fine Masonic Temple is erected adjacent to the town. The C.W.A. is a very live organisation, which has rest rooms attached to the Memorial Hall. The literary needs are supplied by a well stocked library, and a printery, which produces a weekly newspaper and caters for all the printing needs of the district, is established. Amusement and entertainments are catered for by a weekly picture show, travelling theatrical and concert companies, as well as the local brass band and dramatic society. Churches are represented, the Church of England, Methodist, Presbyterian, and Roman Catholic, each sect having a substantial property. A Chamber of Commerce and several Farmers' Associations are active in protecting the welfare and advance of both town and district. The Education Department is represented by a first-class central school and six outlying schools. Climatic conditions are ideal, the average yearly rainfall being 60 inches. As a tourist resort Cooroy district presents unrivalled claims, though residents, up to the present time, make no particular effort to cater for tourist traffic. Radiating from the township some ten different roads penetrate in different directions to the boundaries of the district.
